Voting forms are being prepared
Voting papers have been provided to all of those who are on the electoral role. The forms have been sent home in envelopes with the school newsletter on Monday 11th August. School parents please ensure that you receive these, as they are your voting papers and no further voting papers are available. Each voter received a voting paper, (coloured green), a voting cover letter with instructions about how to vote, and an envelope to return the voting papers, (which may be used for posting them, but is not compulsory for returning them to the school office).
How to vote:
There are six candidate names on the voting paper. Voters may select up to 4 of the six candidates but can vote for less than 4 if they wish. Voters indicate their choices by ticking each candidate they wish to vote for. Both parents are entitled to vote individually and only one person can vote on each voting paper.
If more than 4 candidates are ticked, then if the error has not been corrected, the vote will be deemed invalid and not be counted.
If a mistake is made on the voting paper and the wrong candidate is ticked, then so long as the error is clearly identified as an error, for instance by drawing a line through the name and tick box of the incorrect candidate, then the voting form can be completed and returned to the returning officer for counting.
How to return your completed voting form:
Completed voting papers can be dropped into the school office no later than 4.00PM Wednesday 10th September.
Alternatively, voting papers can be posted to The Returning Officer, C/o Matamata Christian School, 91A Smith Street, Matamata 3400 to be received no later than midday Monday 15th September. PLEASE NOTE that voting papers cannot be returned by fax or email.
What happens next:
Vote counting will be completed by Tuesday the 16th September and the new Board will take office at 1.00am Wednesday 17th September.
