PCE Annual Report for the year ended December 2025

Welcome to the Peria Christian Education Inc 2026 AGM. On behalf of your Proprietor Board (the Board), it is my pleasure to bring you this annual report for the year ended December 2025.

Increasing year levels and roll numbers: Continued discussions with the Ministry Of Education resulted in agreed maximum year levels of year 9 starting in 2026 with a maximum roll of 150, and year 10 starting in 2027, with a maximum roll of 180.

Building development projects for 2025: In February 2025 the Board paid a deposit for a block of two second hand classrooms, one a fitted out science lab. However, mainly due to the consent process, it wasn’t until September that work could begin in earnest to bring the block up to an acceptable standard. This block was in service early to mid 2026.

Also during 2025, discussions began with a builder who was offering to provide two further blocks, each with two classrooms which would take the school up to 11 classrooms in all. The blocks also provided office spaces, a toilet facility and large covered deck spaces. The result of those discussions can now be seen under construction on the school property.

While adding more classrooms has remained the Boards main focus, other improvements to the school were continuing. Following the installation of the rooms 3 and 4 deck shadings late 2024, new wide sliding classroom doors were installed to both classrooms. Additionally, recarpeting was carried out in rooms 1, 3 and 4, the breakout room and office; and Autex was added to the room 2 cloak bay walls.

PCE Finances – The 2025 financial reports have been audited and finalised, and some hard copies are available in this meeting room. They are also available on the school website and if you scan the QR code on the agenda you can view them there also.

The ongoing increase in the school roll, along with an increase in donor and MOE support, is reflected in the financial report, with around $20,000 increase in donations and $80,000 increase in MOE support compared to 2024, raising income by $100,000 to $312,488. Expenses, with an increase of around $2,000, remains about the same as 2024 at $82,400.

From about the middle of 2023, the Board had enjoyed being debt free, having paid off a loan which related to expansion of the car park a number of years ago. However it was clear that strategic borrowing will be required for the Board to fund the additional buildings etc that a growing roll required. In April 2025, the Board arranged a loan of $245,000 from the BNZ.

Kid on the Rock Foundation – The Kid on the Rock Foundation is a registered charitable Trust that was set up independent of PCE, to support families and grow Christian education in and around Matamata. Funds are raised primarily through donations. For more information visit https://www.kidontherock.co.nz/ In 2025, through sponsorships totaling $2,289.00, 4 children from 3 families were assisted to attend Matamata Christian School.

Since 2017, the Foundation has given $65,459.00, mainly to Matamata Christian School directly or through child sponsorships, and also to Tower Road Christian Preschool and Peria Christian Education Inc. There is a clear breakdown on the foundation's website homepage.

Looking forward: The builders are working to complete rooms 8 to 11 by mid January 2027. They do have contingencies in place to ensure at least 1 block will be functioning and available by the start of term 1 2027. One of the classrooms will be multi use, catering for cooking and textiles as well as other activities.

Materials technology / woodwork and design is likely to be the next building project for 2027

In conclusion, We are thankful to God for what has been achieved throughout 2025. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication of the Proprietor Board members, and would like to particularly acknowledge Christine Anderton, Sarah Smith, Sarah Thurlow and Warren Storey who have freely given much of their time through the year. We are also grateful for the numerous others who have given freely of their time, talents and treasures for the betterment of the school. Your ongoing support and prayers are much appreciated.

I move the adoption of this report for the year ended December 2025

Kobus Englebrecht

Chairman of the Proprietor Board
